Much attention has been focused on how President Donald Trump’s import tariff policies might push up inflation. Understandably so, considering tariffs have been raised to their highest level in nearly 100 years. A meaningful decline of the dollar—spurred by the country’s parlous public finances and a deficit-boosting tax bill—may also reignite inflation.
