Naira continues appreciation against USD

SEPTEMBER 15, 2026

The naira continued its appreciation against the United States dollar at the official foreign exchange market on Monday, beginning the week on a positive note.

Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, data showed that the naira strengthened to N1,326.30 on Monday, up from N1,326.52 exchanged on Friday last week.

This means that the naira firmed up slightly by N0.22 on Monday compared to Friday.

Meanwhile, at the black market, the naira remained unchanged at N1,390 per dollar on Monday, the same exchange rate recorded at the close of trading last week.

The mixed sentiments at the official and parallel foreign exchange markets came as the country’s external reserves rose to $54.49 billion on September 11, 2026.

Recall that on Friday, the naira extended its gains against the dollar.
