Naira appreciates across FX markets to end week on a good note - DAILY POST

The naira appreciated against the dollar across the official and parallel foreign exchange markets to end the week on a good note.

Central Bank of Nigeria data showed that the naira firmed up against the dollar to N1,337.29 on Friday from N1,338.59 recorded on Thursday at the official market.

This means that, on a day-to-day basis, the Nigerian currency gained N1.30 against the dollar.

Similarly, at the black market, the naira strengthened by N7 to close at N1,400 on Friday from N1,407 recorded the previous day, according to Abubakar Hassan, a Bureau de Change operator in Wuse Zone 4, Abuja.

DAILY POST reports that, on a week-on-week basis, the naira gained N9.20 and N5 across the official and parallel foreign exchange markets, respectively.

This comes as the country’s foreign reserves sustained their rise to hit $53.31 billion as of August 27, 2026, according to the apex bank’s data.
