Dollar to Naira exchange rate today, April 30, 2026: Nigerian currency sustains appreciation ahead of holiday

The Naira sustained appreciation against the dollar at the foreign exchange market on Thursday ahead of the May 1st holiday.

The Central Bank of Nigeria’s data showed that the Naira further strengthened to

N1,374.94 per dollar on Thursday, up from 1,379.46 traded on Wednesday.

This means that on a day-to-day basis, the Naira appreciated significantly by N4.5 against the dollar at the official foreign exchange market. Thursday’s appreciation is the second consecutive gain achieved by the local currency this week.

Meanwhile at the black market, the Naira remained flat at N1,395 per dollar on Thursday, the same exchange rate recorded the previous day.

The development comes as the country’s foreign reserves drop further to $48.37 billion as of 29th April 2026, according to the apex bank data.

Recall that the Nigerian government declared Monday, May 1st, a public holiday to mark this year’s Workers’ Day.
