The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has warned citizens in the country against falling victim to fraudulent Hajj visa offers, following the official closure of visa issuance by Saudi authorities.

In a public announcement, the Commission said it received reports of unscrupulous individuals and fake travel agencies claiming to facilitate Hajj visas through unofficial channels.

NAHCON clarified that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia closed Hajj visa issuance on the 1st of Shawwal, 1447 AH, corresponding to March 20, 2026, and no further visas are being issued.

The Commission noted that all eligible Nigerian pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj had already secured their visas before the deadline.

It stressed that there are no alternative visa options for performing Hajj, warning that tourist, Umrah, or work visas cannot be used for the pilgrimage.

NAHCON further highlighted strict penalties imposed by Saudi authorities on violators, including up to six months imprisonment, a fine of up to 20,000 Saudi Riyals, and deportation with a possible ten-year ban from re-entry into the Kingdom.

The Commission therefore advised members of the public to rely only on official channels, including State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Boards, for Hajj registration and information.

It also urged Nigerians to report any suspicious activities related to fake Hajj visa offers to law enforcement agencies.

NAHCON reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a safe and transparent Hajj process for all Nigerian pilgrims.
