Canada's housing market stuck in 'holding pattern,' says CREA - FINANCIAL POST
BY Denise Paglinawan
Home sales in Canada barely moved in November, dropping 0.6 per cent from October, according to Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA)‘s monthly data released on Monday.
CREA said its home price index fell 0.4 per cent between October and November. The national average home price was $682,219, down two per cent from 2024.
The report also said monthly activity dropped 10.7 per cent from November 2024.
“At this point it’s looking like the mid-year rally in housing demand has veered into more of a holding pattern heading into 2026,” CREA’s senior economist Shaun Cathcart said.
He added that there appears to have been some price concessions by sellers in November in order to get deals done before the end of the year.
